Southwind offers players in the 5th thru 8th grades an opportunity to "keep their hands on the ball" outside of the club season by providing league teams during the summer months. Players train in a more relaxed atmosphere during the summer months while continuing to develop their skills. Southwind participates in the leagues offered by Johnson County Parks and Recreation District.

Players practice once a week and compete one night at week. The training begins in late May and runs for 8 weeks with 6 nights of competition. Competition night is on Sundays.

Participants will be instructed and drilled over the basic skills of the game. Strategies of the game will be introduced with emphasis on fundamental skills. Each team is limited to 9 players so early registration is encouraged to ensure a position on a team. At the first practice of each session there is short parent meeting to cover the parent/player handbook, any additional information, and answer questions.

Summer 2008: Practices will begin the week of May 19th with teams practicing Tuesday and Thursday evenings for two weeks. With the number of activities during the summer it is difficult to plan practice times so teams will alternate an early practice and then a later practice. The coaching staff prefers players attend their "team" practice times however if they can not there will be other teams who alternate on a different schedule allowing players to attend a different practice. Cost per player $190.00

Once competition begins practices will alternate from Tuesday evening to the following week Friday afternoons. Again, the coaching staff prefers players attend their "team" practice times however if they can not there will be other teams who alternate on a different schedule allowing players to attend a different practice. Please keep your coaches informed with your schedule so we may do a better job of preparing practices.

Practices are held at Tomahawk Sports Dome and/or Okun Fieldhouse as well as Land Gym (MidAmerica Nazarene University) with competition taking place at Okun Fieldhouse.

Each participant recieves a Southwind Volleyball T-shirt/team jersey.

Before participating in any training sessions players must have the following forms turned in to Southwind Volleyball: Registration form, Medical Release Form and Model/Web Release form.
